Snow - Hallelujah!
Current mood: hopeful
My hubby is gone into the wilderness area to the North of our house with the neighbor on a back country pack trip. They are hunting elk - yes, we eat it. We rarely buy beef - we buy chicken and fish at times but my husband also stocks our freezer with a variety of fish (walleye is a favorite!) and foul (grouse and phesant) when he can. Hunting is a funny business and there are lots of unfruitful trips. Hopefully this trip - a large party involving our pack horses, tents, and a weeks worth of supplies - will be a successful one.
The great news is that it is going to SNOW tonight or tomorrow. Why is that exciting? Well, it significantly lowers the fire danger and those of you who know me know what I have already been through at the hands of such a disaster and I live on egg shells for two months or more out of year until the first snow. The first snow will be here shortly and I am already beginning to relax. Fire season drives me to distraction for good reason. We have had two fires within a 10 mile radius of our house - one directly across the road - and while 10 miles sounds like a large distance, it is NOT far for a fire to travel. So, let's hear it for some snow! The Israelites had manna and I have snow! ^.^
While the menfolk are out harvesting a couple of elk, and am going to work on some projects I have to finish up here at home and nurse my two sick kiddos back to health. They both have nasty colds triggered by all the smoke in the air here from all the fires. And then on Saturday I will celebrate how old I feel when I attend a birthday dinner in honor of my baby sister who will be 21 and old enough to drink - legally that is! LOL
