2006 Wrapped Up!
2006 has come to a close. To be honest, I was so busy with other stuff, I barely noticed the coming of the New Year. We spent that day taking down our Christmas tree (I usually have it down a few days earlier) and putting away the yard decorations.
I spent a few minutes looking back over my previous posts and discovered that it would be an excellent idea to update some of them!
My post on September 29th - Genealogy Obsession: As it stands right now, we have filled in all of the branches of our family tree - back at least 8 generations! - except for one. That is my paternal grandfather's paternal branch. Of course, it has to be the one that my family name came from! LOL We are currently undergoing DNA testing to rule in or out a couple of leads and then we will have to go from there. When I have as much as I can fill in on my own, I will submit all of my research to the professional genealogist I have been working with and have it verified. It has been such a fun project for my sister and I. Step two is to visit some of the places our ancestors came from!
My post on October 21 - Perimenopause: I continue to deal with all of the symptoms of pre-mature menopause - annoying as they are - and am doing just fine without taking any kind of HRT. Not a pleasant state of being, but could be worse. :)
My post on October 25 - Celebmatch.com: The silliness of this whole thing made me laugh all over again. If you are bored, it is great fun!
My post on October 29 - Boycott List: After doing a bit of internet research on all three of my boycott items, I discovered that Starbucks has issued a statement explaining why they did not send coffee to the troops overseas. There is also a letter from the person who sent out the orignial e-mail telling everyone about Starbuck's refusal, apologizing for the assertion that he made regarding Starbucks. Nice. I love it how people spread the bad word and never get out the good word. You can read all about this for yourself at the following site: http://www.snopes.com/politics/military/starbucks.asp So, now I can un-boycott Starbucks! Yeah!! Vanilla latte, here I come. Such a simple thing - a vanilla latte - but I really enjoy them once in a while. Vanilla lattes interfere with the diet though! :)
While I did not actually see the episode of South Park spoofing the death of Steve Irwin, I could find nothing anywhere that said it failed to air. I did see a couple of still animations from the episode. That is enough for me. So, regardless of whether that episode aired or not, South Park remains on my boycott list. I cannot think of a single thing that would cause me to take South Park off my boycott list. You can not unring a bell.
Hartz Products have not changed a single thing and they also remain on my boycott list as well.
My post on November 1 - Diet: I had taken a break from my diet during the holidays. I failed to meet my goal of maintaining or possibly losing 2 pounds. I actually gained two pounds. A friend made me feel better by saying that she read somewhere that the average American gains 9 - 15 pounds between the end of November and January 1. Scary!!! So, I am now back in the dieting saddle. More about that and what I am up to in a later post.
All in all, 2006 was a pretty good year. I started this blog, I managed to organize a few of my things - including my Christmas decorations, which were out of control. I made it out to a few events with friends and generally got out more -including a trip to Chicago with friends and family. My husband gave me a *car* for Mother's Day. My favorite fanfic couple finally had their baby - which turned out to be a boy!! My sister turned up pregnant - which turned out to be a girl!! And, I have not come up pregnant or in the hospital this year - so it's all good!!

I love your mountain view!! I am sooo jealous.
Hey April!
I love the snow as well. Along about April, when we still have a foot or two of snow and everyone else is doing their Spring plantings - that's when it starts to get old. Then, when September comes, I want it to snow again! Either way, I eventually get my wish! tee hee
Nice wrap-up, Jen.
I also love to do Genealogy. I have my Norwegian side traced back to the 1400's; My Danish and German sides are traced back to the 1600's; but my Irish side is giving me fits. I only have them back to the 1800's.
Hiya Devonna!
The 1400s?? Cool! I *wish* I could accomplish that in my research. It's funny, because our Irish/Scottish branches were the easiest for us to trace. I wish you luck in uncovering what you need to go further. It can be so frustrating!!
Great recap!! And yay about Starbucks. I don't have it very often, but I do love me some Starbucks every now and then. Now I can enjoy it without guilt.:o)
