Today is my birthday. It is already an improvement over last year's birthday when I spent the whole morning at the dentist having my wisdom teeth pulled and a root canal. We can only go up from there :)
First of all, my 365 Days of Praise calender, given to me by my lovely friend Pam, has the following quote from Charles H. Spurgeon: "God stands fast as your rock, steadfast as your safeguard, sleepless as your watcher, valiant as your champion." I *LOVE* that!
I started my day snuggling with my son Owen who was up very early this morning. We watched cartoons in bed. Our plans for the rest of the day include a bit of shopping, a trip to Baskin-Robbins and then dinner at my favorite Chinese restaurant with my family. Yep, that's right, we are eating dessert before dinner!
Here are some famous people who share my birthday:
Buzz Aldrin - second man on the moon
Slim Whitman - country singer
Melissa Rivers - uhmmm....not sure what her profession is
Patricia Neal - actress
George Burns - comedian
Bill Maher - smartie pants, er, I mean, political satirist
Lorenzo Lamas - actor
James Denton - actor
Charles III - King of Spain 1759-1778
Notable events that took place on January 20th:
1265 In Westminster, the first English parliament conducts it's first meeting in the Palace of Westminster - now known as the Houses of Parliament.
1841 Hong Komg Island is first occupied by the British Empire
1937 Franklin Delano Roosevelt inaugurated as President of the United States; first time this ceremony is held on January 20th.
