I Saw Three Ships is a carol that I love to sing because it is very simple - almost like a children's song. It's author and exact origins are not known, but the earliest copy copy of the lyrics known are thought to be from Derbyshire, England and of Victorian origin. The tune is the well recogized 'Greensleeves' - an English folk tune dating back to the 16th century.
