Perimenopause???
Current mood: amused
So, I have basically been feeling like a rather large pile of dog doo for a while now. I have also been rather moody - I mean moody like my middle sister moody - which is a problem. Night sweats, being really hot at times, itchy......I thought I was losing my mind!
Yesterday, I had my annual checkup complete with mammogram. Not a fun experience, but a necessary one. My doctor advised me that I have all the signs of menopause - even though I am a full 10 years too young for such things - and that condition is callled perimenopause.
Hmmmmm......Why? I don't get why I should go through menopause early. It certainly does not bother me and I actually feel better now that I know what all of these odd things happening to me are all about. But still, rampant fertility is a family trait - one that I do not possess. Could this be the reason it took so long to have Princess Crimefighter and the reason that Booger came along so quickly after that? Could be. Maybe I have never had 'normal hormonal levels'.
Some women, apparently, feel not only like crap during the 'change of life' (it is funnier if you say it with a really strong SE Kentucky accent ), they feel sad that their child bearing days are over. You'll get none of that from this girl!! I am happy to be going through it and can't wait to get it over with. Woo Hoo! I admit to being a little sad about the tubal ligation that I had after delivering Booger, but my sadness quickly faded when the reality of have two toddlers in the house set in. I love my kids; two is enough. Besides, I have four nieces to love on as well. And,....ahem.....big announcement: Baby #5 for my middle sister and her hubby is due to arrive in May.
My sis and bro in law have had a failed vasectomy. We are ALL shocked to hear this news, but I admit to being excited as well. What a surprise!! We are of course, hoping for a boy - and since I am putting in my 'order' to the Man Upstairs - I would like a healthy sister who has a healthy baby - preferably a boy with freckles and red hair. Please. Or a sweet baby girl with freckels and red hair! Pretty please. Whatever we get, Little Gizmo is a special kid!
I think it is funny that I, who did not have my first child until I was well into my thirties should be going through an early menopause while my sister has 5 kids before she is 30! What a strange thing the human body it! And, what a weird world we live in sometimes.

Hope you're feeling better soon, Jen. And if you keep feeling crappy, I'd go get another exam. Can't be too careful these days with all the crap people come down with.
Love you!
