Maya's Gingerbread House
I ripped this off from Jenster's Musings! Feel free to take this and use it yourself.
1. Egg nog or hot chocolate?
Neither - how about an Irish Creme Latte instead?
2. Does Santa wrap all the gifts or set them out under the tree?
A little of both - really large gifts we leave unwrapped.
3. Colored lights or all white?
It varies from year to year. I like all white lights and Bill loves colored lights. We compromise - just like we do everything else! LOL An oldest child and an only child have these issues when they are married to one another!
4. Do you hang misteltoe?
Not usually. Maybe we should start!
5. When do the decorations go up?
Errrr......I am not allowed to start before December actually starts, but we usually put up or tree on the second week in December and I try to have all other decorations up before that.
6. Favorite holiday dish? (Besides dessert)
Green bean casserole
7. Favorite holiday memory as a child?
Sledding on Christmas Eve with my brother and sisters
8. How and when did you learn the truth about Santa?
I honestly have no idea!
9. Did you open gifts on Christmas Eve?
Actually, we opened all of our gifts on Christmas Eve. Not sure why but that is the way we did it!
10. How do you decorate the Christmas tree?
I never do it the same way each year. I usually pick a 'look' and decorate accordingly - hence the pile of decorations is the garage!
11. Snow - love it or hate it?
Do I have a choice? It makes no difference! I have to live with it 6 months out of the year regardless of my personal feelings - which are negative at the moment!
12. Can you ice skate?
If they make skates to fit your rear end, then, yes. Otherwise - not a chance.
13. Do you remember your favorite gift you have every received?
Gosh, this is a tough one. My favorite gift I have every received was not a Christmas gift. For Christmas, I would much rather receive a small handmade something. No designer love for me!
14. What is the most important thing for you about the holidays?
Two part answer: A. It is the observance of the birth of my Lord and Savior! and B. I love watching the kids in pure, unadulterated joy on Christmas morning.
15. What is your favorite holiday dessert?
Cheesecake!
16. What is your favorite holiday tradition?
When I was a kid, Christmas Eve was movie day. We all went to the movies together and had lunch out and then sledding!!
17. What tops your tree?
A silver Bethlehem Star
18. Do you prefer giving or receiving?
While I like getting presents, I love giving them. I love the shopping, the wrapping and the giving!
19. What is your favorite Christmas song?
The Wexford Carol (lyrics are in my lyricsbox on this page), O Holy Night, and O Come All Ye Faithful
20. Candy canes - yuck or yum?
Total peppermint fan - YUM!

LOVE the gingerbread houses! Katie and I are thinking about trying our hand at one of those kits. I'll let you know if we do.

I have never been able to roller skate, ice skate, ski - none of that. Not sure why! Probably because I am afraid of falling on my rear. LOL
The gingerbread house and train were kits that we bounght at Target for about $10 each - and they came with all the candies as well. They were really easy to assemble and decorate. Maya did the house decorations almost all by herself by looking at the picture on the box. Owen (who is 2) required a bit more help to stay on task. He kept eating the candy and trying to squirt me with the frosting. Boys! :)
The gingerbread creations are fabulous! Absolutely adorable. I always wanted to make one, but never wanted to eat all that gingerbread. ugh.
