I have actually managed to read these two books in the past six weeks. I am so impressed with myself! To top it off, I totally swiped this Frazy gizmo from my buddy Meg. Thanks Meg!!

I love Pride and Prejudice and really enjoy reading sequels and rewrites. As some of you know, my friend Sharon Lathan has recently published a Pride and Prejudice sequel. She and I are both fans of the above authors and I highly recommend both books.

Pemberley By The Sea is a modern retelling of the Pride and Prejudice tale written by Abigail Reynolds. Ms. Reynolds is a master of Pride and Prejudice rewrites and this one is no different. The only hiccup for me was the gang connections one of the main characters has. I did not totally buy that bit of storyline. Aside from that - this book is perfect!

Pemberley's Promise is a Regency era retelling of the Pride and Prejudice tale. In this story, author Kara Louise tells us how Fitzwilliam Darcy and Elizabeth Bennet meet enroute to America on a ship. Mr. Darcy is dashing as ever and the character of Elizabeth is right on in this book. A wonderful read!

I've got a question for you, oh Jane Austen guru...

Are Sharon Lathan's book as G-rated as Jane Austen? I have a young on-line buddy who loves Jane Austen and would probably love these books as well, but she only reads inspirational books because she's afraid of being offended.

Thanks, Oh Wise One. :o)

My Grandma just bought a book that's being passed around our family. It's the story of P&P told from Darcy's perspective. I haven't read it yet, and can't remember the title, but supposedly it sticks to the old English. I think I'm second or third in line to read it.

Jenster: Sharon herself has a disclaimer on her site cautioning that there is 'suggestive sensuality' in her book. If your friend is under 17 and very sensitive to such content, I would tell her to pass. As I have said before - this is the story of a newly married couple and we all know all about that! ;-) It is not Gabaldon or Kenyon by any means though.

A better choice for her might be the Fitzwilliam Darcy - Gentleman trilogy by Pamela Aiden or The Man Who Loved Jane Austen by Sally Smith O'Rourke (I think). Both lovely with no offensive content what so ever.

Shauna: I'll bet that is Mr. Darcy's Diary - one of my all time favorites. You will love it!

Thanks, Jen! I'll pass on the info. I'm not sure how old she is, but she's pretty young.
