And They're Off!!!
Maya and Owen were off to their first day of Preschool today. Maya is in actual Kindergarten prep preschool and Owen is attending to play.
I am grateful that neither one of them cried or begged me to stay with them - however, a *little* something would have been nice. They were gone the minute we hit the door and did not act all that thrilled to see me when I came to pick them up!
We will see if it is still that way two months from now........

Oh, your kids are sooooo cute!! And they look so happy! How many hours are they at playschool a week? I think it's great that they took off, excited to play! And I know that bereft feeling when you're left standing there, staring after your child. My second, Benen, does it to me everytime!
Sweet pictures!! Be happy. Be VERY happy!!
Some of my very fondest memories are when my kids were in preschool. So much fun.
You have very cute kids! Congratulations it's a big step for all.
Very cute pics, Jen! They look happy and excited :-)
Thank you all so much!
My kids drive me crazy all day but the minute I have to turn them over to someone else, I miss them!
Nice to see you here Dev! Hope you have been well!
Yes, they're deceptively cute. But you know, even at the moment that photo was taken, they were both cooking up something crazy. Enjoy your time while they're at school, Nern. Those two would've killed a lesser woman by now. You've earned a little quiet time a couple of times a week.
...Nern. Those two would've killed a lesser woman by now.
First of all - Nern?? There's gotta be a reason for that and we should know. :o)
The next sentence cracks me up.
OK, I was reprimanded on the phone earlier today for using the nickname I have for my big sister, the person you all know as "Jen" or "Jennifer."
Nern is what I call my sister because I have inherited, through my hillbilly relatives, the inability to call anyone by their rightful name. When I speak to and of Jen's daughter, I call her, "Possum" (a nickname her daddy gave her) or MayaMonster (which, depending on Maya's mood, is much-of-the-time, very appropriate) and I call her son "Booger" (because that's what Owen he is. He's a booger.) The term "Nern" is just a name that has evolved throughout that past 30+ years. It doesn't mean anything to anyone except for me and Jen. It's a term of endearment, so she knows it's me talking at her. No story behind it except that Jen's got a sister who isn't right in the head.
The second statement about how Maya and Owen would've killed a lesser woman by now is very much true. If you've ever seen those two kids in action, you know what I mean. They're hell on wheels and they're very lucky to have the mother they have - I don't think anyone else would have the energy to keep up with them...
Love you, NERN!!!
Love you too Julie!
Hope that clears things up for you Jenster. It was much easier to make Julie explain rather than try to explain myself. ;-)
