My closet project is finished! Well, a more accurate statement would be to say that Stage One of my closet project is finished. When I started, I thought that what I accomplished this week was all I wanted to do. In the end, I have discovered that I could do a bit more and so have decided to do that at a later date.

So, much to my utter embarassment, here at the before photos of my closet:

And...drum roll please....here is the result:

I realize the pictures are not all that great. It is really hard to take photos of a 6 X 8 walk in closet that is, erm...fully furnished. You will just have to take my word for it that it is *much* better than it was 3 days ago.

This entire project took me about 5 hours and cost around $125 altogther. I had to empty the entire closet and then sort and organize all the contents. I thought that I would get rid of the dresser that was in there, but decided in the end that the contents and area the dresser currently occupies will be the subject of Phase Two of this closet makeover.

The hardest part of this entire thing was getting the frame of the closet organizer on the log wall. About 45 minutes of my total worktime was spent with a hammer and chisel cutting out notches to make the frame fit. In the end, it fits great and it very sturdy.

Now, I am hoping my husband will be impressed with my handiwork. He has been promising that he would get to that closet for a while now. Hopefully, he will be satisfied with what I have done - and I still left a bit for him to do if he wants to. But, he better not take too long - or I will have my way with that part of the closet as well.

Last night, I fully intended to sit down and watch A Knight's Tale with Heath Ledger. In the end, I just could not do it. So, instead, I pulled out my unwatched copy of The Notebook. I bought it a couple of weeks ago at the insistence of a friend who knew that I would really enjoy it. And I did! What a wonderful movie!

So, now I am inspired to read the book - which I understand is different from the movie. No matter. It was such a good movie that as long as the essence of the story is there, I will love it!

Think I will watch it again tonight! After I work a bit more on that closet project that is!

Now that Christmas and all of the hubbub that surrounds it is over, I always turn my attention to cleaning up the mess left behind by the Holidays.

Why do we do all of our deep cleaning in the Spring? We really ought to do it in the Fall. If we did major cleaning projects in the Fall, the house would be super clean for Christmas and you would have less to contend with in the Spring. Also, where I live, it is very muddy in the Spring and Spring cleaning is pretty much a useless endeavor.

Anyway, because I am in a cleaning and get organized frame of mind, I am going to tackle the closet in the master bedroom. It is a big closet - 6 x 8 - and is full of stuff. Actually, there is not really all that much stuff in there, it is just that is it is so disorganized that you cannot function in there. My darling hubby has been promising to get to that closet for 3 years now and I am tired of waiting. He is going away for a week and while he is gone, I am going to give that closet an overhaul.

My very first step will be to completely empty it out and sort every last item in there. Getting rid of stuff is a chore I hate! I hate deciding whether to keep things or not and I really hate loading them up and taking them to charity. It is just something I do not like to do - period. That will be the worst part.

Next, I am going to install closet organizers inside. One wall of the closet already has a closet organizer - and that is the part of the closet that functions properly. There is a dresser inside the closet that is coming out and going into the garage for now. Once I get the organizers installed, it will just be a simple matter of petting the stuff back inside. I expect it will take me all of one day - and maybe part of another if I include the taking of stuff to charity.

Hubby leaves on Friday and this is a secret project I plan to work on while he is gone so wish me luck!
