With the holidays fast approaching, this week's catagory is Favorite Holiday....

My favorite holiday is Christmas. It has all the things I like to do involved and is one of the two most important days of the year. Not only do we get to honor and celebrate the birth of our Savior, we get to do special things for our family and friends. Christmas involves all of my gifts - shopping, cooking, decorating, entertaining and surprising people. All of that in one! Yippee!! And, I also love to wrap gifts - which most people hate to do. Christmas is Heavenly - in every sense of the word!

My hubby is a big fan of Thanksgiving - both for the food and sentiments behind the holiday. We always try and make a big deal out of Turkey Day at our house.

Maya says that Halloween is her favorite holiday because you get to dress up and go out in public. Hmmm...... I am sure it will be her favorite - until November 1st rolls around and everyone starts talking about Christmas and making out their Christmas lists. The neighbor girls had Part One of her Christmas List done in August so the rest of us had better get cracking!

Tell Miss Maya that the day after Halloween is a very special day for my faith-All Saints Day. We get to celebrate the saints and the things that they did to be more like Jesus. Although, I agree with Maya, it's the one day you can dress weird and nobody looks at you funny!! *grins*

However, I am with Bill, Thanksgiving is awesome, but he forgets the Ball games...lol That is the day that Christmas starts for us-my favorite thing is watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade all the way to the end, and when Santa comes, then it's time to start Christmas.

I think that Christmas is an awesome time too...of course, for me we begin the celebrations with Advent, where we joyously celebrate to upcoming birth of our Salvation each week with lit candles and prayers. I love those traditions along with the Christmas Carols, baking, and the gift buying, wrapping, and giving. So many wonderful smiles during that time of year, so much love.

However, Ash Wednesday, Lent through Easter is my favorite holiday-it is the time we celebrate my Christian birthday, my Baptism.

Love you Sister Dear!

As a holiday purely for the joy of all the celebrations that go with it, I am a Christmas lover all the way. Yes it gets crazy and a wee bit too expensive no matter how hard I try to be frugal. But I love the tree decorating, cookie baking, Santa Claus fun that we continue even though my kids are way too old to believe, the special church services, carols, sending and receiving cards, and so much more.

As for the significance, Christmas and Easter go hand in hand to me. I love all the worldly fun, but the true joy is celebrating and commemorating the birth, then death and resurrection of our Savior. Nothing compares to that!
